Brachymeria minuta

Description

Brachymeria minuta (Linnaeus, 1767)

Material examined. IRAN: Fars, Sepidan, loc. 10, 23.vi. 2010, (1 ♂) (in JIAU).

Distribution. Widely distributed in Palaearctic and also recorded from the Oriental (India, Vietnam) and Australasian regions.

Hosts. This parasitoid belongs to the minuta species group as defined by Delvare & Huchet (2017) and includes primary parasitoids of synanthropic flies, for example B. minuta, and rarely secondary parasitoids of Orthoptera or Lepidoptera through tachinid or sarcophagid Diptera (Steffan 1959; Delvare & Huchet 2017). Nevertheless, it has previously been reported in Iran as a parasitoid of Lymantria dispar (Linnaeus, 1758) (Lepidoptera, Lymantriidae) (Lotfalizadeh et al. 2012).
