Description
Caprodon longimanus (Günther, 1859)
Anthias longimanus Günther, 1859
Holotype: BMNH 1857.6.13.116, stuffed specimen of ca. 250 mm SL.
Type locality: unknown. Illustrations: Anderson & Heemstra, 2012, fig. 5; Boulenger, 1895, pl. XII; Kuiter 2004:101, figs. A–G.
D: X, 19 to 21. A: III, 7 to 9. P: 16 to 19. C: 17 (9 + 8). V: 26 (10 + 16). S: 3. GR: total 33 to 41. LL: 58 to 65 (eastern Pacific), 61 to 71 (western Pacific). CP: 24 to 30 (eastern Pacific), 30 to 34 (western Pacific).
Distribution: because of taxonomic uncertainties exact distribution unknown, but specimens examined from both eastern and western South Pacific (Anderson & Heemstra, 2012:28).
