Holotype: USNM 400888, 155 mm SL.
Type locality: western North Atlantic, Mona Passage, off west coast of Puerto Rico. Illustrations: Anderson & García-Moliner, 2012, fig. 1; Anderson & Heemstra, 2012, fig. 26; Anderson et al., 2017, pl. 6A.

Distribution: Mona Passage, the strait between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic leading from the open Atlantic to the Caribbean Sea.
