Holotype: USNM 400888, 155 mm SL.

Type locality: western North Atlantic, Mona Passage, off west coast of Puerto Rico. Illustrations: Anderson & García-Moliner, 2012, fig. 1; Anderson & Heemstra, 2012, fig. 26; Anderson et al., 2017, pl. 6A.

D: X, 15. A: III, 7. P: 18. C: 15 (8 + 7). V: 26 (10 + 16). S: 2. GR: 42 or 43 (13 or 14 + 28 to 30). LL: 33 to 38. CP: 16 to 18.

Distribution: Mona Passage, the strait between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic leading from the open Atlantic to the Caribbean Sea.
