Gulf of Aqaba: Egypt (Aron & Goodyear 1969, as Benthosema pterota), Jordan (Post & Svoboda 1980).

Red Sea main basin: Egypt (Aron & Goodyear 1969, as Benthosema pterota), Sudan (Dypvik & Kaartvedt 2013), Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (Aron & Goodyear 1969, as Benthosema pterota), (Dypvik & Kaartvedt 2013). General distribution: Red Sea, Indo-Pacific: East Africa east to southrn Japan, Philippines and New Guinea.
