Barbodes xouthos (Kottelat & Tan, 2011) BE (BR)

Barbodes binotatus (non-Valenciennes): Eden, 1984: 181 (Belait district: Sungai Mendaram near Labi).

Puntius banksi (non-Herre): Kottelat & Lim, 1995: 232 (in part, Tutong district).

Systomus banksi (non-Herre): Sulaiman & Shahdan, 2007: 26 (Tasek Merimbun).

Systomus xouthos Kottelat & Tan, 2011: 211 (Tutong district: Sungai Merimbun and Tasek Merimbun). Remarks. Juvenile Barbodes xouthos is distinguished from Bruneian specimens identified as Barbodes banksi

of similar size in having a very small black spot (instead of a large squarish blotch) at the base of the anterior part

of the dorsal fin (Kottelat & Tan, 2011: 212; Eden, 1984: 181 as Barbodes binotatus).
