Heterotropus Loew, 1873: 180, 182. Type species: Heterotropus albidipennis Loew, 1873, by monotypy.
Remarks: Heterotropus spp. known as predators (Yeates & Irwin 1992).

Heterotropus aegyptiacus Paramonov, 1929: 131 (70). Type locality: Egypt.
Distribution: AF: Egypt [as ”Gebel Elba”], Saudi Arabia [as “South western part”], Sudan. PA: Egypt.
Saudi Arabian localities: Al-Baha: Ghabet Raghdan (Al-Baha Gov.). Makkah: Jabal Daka (Taief Gov.). Riyadh: Rawdhat Al-Sabalah (Al-Zulfi Province).
Dates of collection: March to August.
