Several 3-(2'-hydroxyethyl)quinolin-2(1H)-ones were prepared by the photolysis of N-aryl-4,5-dihydrofuran-3-carboxamides. The newIy reported quinolonyl ethanols were converted to 2,3-dihydrofurol2,3-blquinolines.
