Description

Holotype ♂: “ CHINA: W-Hubei, 23.6.-14.7., Dashenongjia mts., 31.5N 110.3E, 2500–2900 m, leg. J. Turna, 2003” (NMW). — Paratypes (3 exs.): 1 ♀: “ CHINA: W-Hubei, 24.5.–14.6., Guanmenshan, 1350–1600m, 31°26‘N 110°22‘E, 2008, leg. J. Turna ” (NMW); 1 ♀: “ CHINA (W-Hubei) Daba Shan, pass E Mt. Kučera (CKS)”.

Description (Habitus: Fig. 4): 10.2–10.6 mm long (4.8–5.3 mm, abdomen excluded). Head black, antennae reddish brown, with middle segments darker brown in mature specimens, mandibles dark reddish brown, palpi reddish; pronotum from black with reddish posterior portion to entirely reddish brown, elytra black, with posterior margin broadly, suture narrowly and base (including shoulders) reddish to reddish brown, in paler specimens basal half reddish to reddish brown; abdominal segments black, posterior margins variably broadly, rather sharply delimited bright reddish, at least posterior half of segment VIII reddish; legs reddish.

Head (Fig. 12) rounded quadrangular, 1.20–1.23 times as wide as long, tempora subparallel, 1.78–1.80 times as long as eyes, dorsal surface rather densely and coarsely punctate, particularly on tempora and along base of head; hind angles of head broadly rounded, even micropunctation very distinct and rather dense; surface with very faint, almost indiscernible traces of isodiametric microsculpture; antennae rather short, segment 4 very slightly oblong, segments 5–7 about as long as wide, segments 8–10 transverse; pronotum slightly oblong, 1.04–1.06 times as long as wide, sides weakly rounded, surface with micropunctation as dense as but much finer than on head, isodiametric microsculpture hardly discernible or lacking; scutellum moderately coarsely and moderately densely punctate; elytra (Fig. 16) along sides markedly longer than pronotum along midline, with dense and rather coarse, almost uniform punctation, finer and less dense along sides, hypomera densely, moderately coarsely punctate; abdominal characters hardly differing from those of the previous species.

Aedeagus (Figs 23, 24, 28) with median lobe rather broad in ventral view (Fig. 23), apical portion slightly widened, apex subacute, in lateral view (Fig. 24) rather broad, apex almost straight, with minute subapical tooth on parameral face, paramere (Fig. 28) shorter than median lobe, slender, peg setae arranged in irregular subapical cluster.

Diagnosis: The species differs from B. ruficornis by the densely and coarsely punctate tempora and base of head, the shorter antennal segments, and the strong, uniform elytral punctation.

Distribution: The species is known only from the type locality.
