Description

Heterobostrychus hamatipennis (Lesne, 1895)

Bostrychus hamatipennis Lesne, 1895:173.

Distribution in China. Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanghai, Taiwan, Yunnan, Zhejiang (Hua 2002).

Other distribution. India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam. Probably introduced to the Comoro Is., Madagascar and Mauritius. Introduced to Europe and USA (Liu & Beaver, 2018).

Host Plants. Beeson and Bhatia (1937) provide a long list of attacked trees, and the species is clearly polyphagous, and has a similar biology to H. aequalis.
