Description
Polypodium lanceolatum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 1082. 1753.
"Habitat in America meridionali." RCN: 7852.
Lectotype (Hedberg in Symb. Bot. Upsal. 15(1): 31. 1957): [icon] " Phyllitis maculata, folio longo angustifolia maculis majoribus" in Petiver, Pteri-graphia Amer.: 8, t. 6, f. 2. 1712.
Current name: Pleopeltis macrocarpa (Willd.) Kaulf. (Polypodiaceae).
Note: See comments by Weatherby (in Contr. Gray Herb. 65: 3. 1922), who did not, however, explicitly refer to the Petiver plate as the type.
