Type locality. Hawaii, Apaiang Island.
Type material. Not found (Johnson 1994).
Distribution. Hawaii (Pease 1871; Tryon 1887; Paetel 1888; Johnson 1994).
Remarks. The genus Triphoris is of feminine gender, therefore the name should be Triphoris cylindrica.
