A new xanthone has been isolated from the seeds of Tectona grandis and characterized as 1,8-dihydroxy-3,7-dimethnxy-4-O-[3'-methyl-4'-(3"-methyl-2" H, 5" H-2"-oxofuran-5-yl)-2-butenyl) xanthone.
