Molybdenum and tungsten complexes of the type M2O4L2 (H2O)2 [where M = MoV, WV, LH = 1-phenyl-2,5- di thiohydrazodicarbonamide (PTHCH), 1-p-methyI phenyl-2,5-di thiohyd razodicarbonamide ( MeOPTHCH), 1-p-methoxyphenyl- 2,5- dithiohydrazodicarbronamide (MePTHCH), 1-p-chlorophenyl-2,5 -dithiohydrazodicarbonamide (CIPTHCH)] have been synthesized. The complexes are non-ionic and diamagnetic in nature. Although the complexes are ESR inactive, +5 oxidation state of the metal ions in octahedral geometry has been suggested. IR and electronic spectral studies indicate dinuclear-type of complexes with M2O2+4 moiety. Monoanionic bidentate mode of bonding for all the ligands is suggested. X-Ray powder diffraction of the complexes exhibits amorphous nature of the complexes.
