Description

The data sets contain summer temperature maxima (2000 years, in Kelvin) and winter precipitation maxima (1999 years, in meter/day) derived from daily data of a large ensemble simulation with the EC-Earth global climate model (v2.3, Hazeleger et al., 2012). EC-Earth was run by Karin van der Wiel to represent present-day climate (global mean temperature of 2011-2015). The area covers most of western Europe with a total of 22 (longitude) x 18 (latitude) equally spaced 1.125 degree grid points.

Alongside the data sets, we provide the code to implement evtGAN and obtain the results in the paper. First, implement the "GAN" part of the model in python by running the scripts "evtGAN_temperature.py" and "evtGAN_precipitation.py". Then, generate from the two trained generators by running "output_temperature.py" and "output_precipitation.py". Finally, implement the "evt" part of the model in R by running "evt_temp.R" and "evt_rain.R". These two scripts also contain all the necessary elements to reproduce the statistical analysis found in the paper.
