Blackfin Pacu, Cachama; Colosomo, Cachama Negra, Tambaquí, Pacú.

Distribution: Global: South America; Amazon and Orinoco River basins, Atlantic drainages, introduced in North, Central, South America and Asia; Costa Rica: SC (Atlantic), Te and Be (Pacific), 1–40 m.a.s.l., Pri, Pot.

Occurrence and conservation status: Exo, NE.
