The macrocyclic compartmental Schiff base ruthenium(lll) complexes have been synthesized. A variety of complexes have been obtained by different procedures and also depending on the choice of lateral diamine fragments with ruthenium ions. The compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, conductometric and magnetochemical behaviour, as well as by IR, ESR, TG, electrochemical and electronic spectra. The antimicrobial activities of the ligands and the complexes have also been tested.
