Description

MP Mus (PDS 66) is a rare example of a nearby (D~100 pc) young star hosting an "old" (age ~7Myr), molecule-rich circumstellar disk from which it is actively accreting.  This system provides an excellent opportunity to directly observe an
environment analogous to the early solar nebula during or just after the epoch of giant planet formation.
