Density (ρ), speed of sound (u), viscosity (ɳ) and refractive index (nD) of 2-hydroxy-5-chloro-isonicotinoylhydrazone (HCAIH) and 2-hydroxy-5-methylisonicotinoylhydrazone (HMAIH) have been measured in N,N-dimethylformamide at temperatures 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. These measurements have been performed to evaluate some important thermodynamic, and acoustic parameters. The apparent molar volume (Vɸ) and apparent molar compressibility (Kɸ) of hydrazones in DMF were also calculated. Partial molar volume (Vɸ0) and partial molar compressibility (Kɸ0 ) were estimated by using the values of (Vɸ) and (Kɸ), at infinite dilution. The viscosity data have been analyzed using the Jones-Dole equation, and the viscosity B-coefficients are calculated. Refractive index data were used to calculate molar refractivity of solutions. The results have been discussed in the light of various types of interactions occurring in solution.
