Chemical coagulation and flocculation method was used for the laboratory scale investigations for the reduction in colour, COD and total suspended solids in textile dyeing and printing effluent. The COD, TSS and colour removal efficiencies can be obtained by appropriate combination of the aluminum penta hydroxyl chloride (coagulant) and clinoptilolite (flocculant), eversorb and bentonite as adsorbent. The results indicated that the COD, TSS and colour of the effluent can be reduced up to an extent of 65 to 70%. The trend of percent COD, TSS and colour reduction is fairly comparable to that of other chemical substances used by the treatment plants.
