The Problems of Functioning of Ukrainian Diaspora Periodical in Alien Information Space (on the Publications in Paris Journal "Tryzub")

For the time on the basis of archival sources the problems of functioning of Ukrainian language printed periodical (journal “Tryzub” (“Trident”) precisely) in alien information space were studied. The journal was founded by Symon Petliura and was published in Paris in 1925 – the beginning of 1940s.

The attention is paid to step-by-step solving of a number of problems, that provided this periodical with the reputation of one of the most reputed and influential printed periodical of Ukrainians in diaspora. Firstly: reporters’ centers founding in different countries of Western Europe and America. Secondly: creation of periodical distribution network. Thirdly: a complex of measures on periodical promotion.

The role and importance of this journal are analyzed in the article according to several aspects: as information, analytical, reference-bibliographic source; as means of distributing Ukrainian published books and printed periodicals among emigrants and key libraries in the West; as archives for presenting documents and materials about the activities of emigration associations, scientific, educational, political and cultural studies activists.
