Description
The project planned that each country partner would hold a National Dissemination Workshop during the third year of the CARARE Project. In the cases where there were more than one partner organisation in a country (e.g. the Netherlands and Greece) or neighbouring countries shared a common language and culture (e.g. Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic), partners were encouraged to organise joint events. Reminders were sent out during Year 2 so that partners had time to prepare. This was especially important for organisations who wanted to organise their workshop in association with a third party conference similar event and therefore required a lead time for submission of a workshop proposal.
Some of the partners are well placed as National Heritage Institutions with a dissemination remit to organise their own workshops, others institutions had less experienc. Regardless of this, seventeen workshops were held successfully in a variety of formats and each partner has submitted a report following the template supplied by the project for this purpose. Academic institutions such as ADS and SNS opted to organise their workshops at selected international conferences whilst other cultural heritage organisations such as CAAI and NPU held their own events. Heritage Malta held their Workshop as one of the events forming a Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples Open Day, NID in Poland held their Workshop as part of their 50th Anniversary Conference and KUAS chose to promote CARARE organising the Hack4DK hackathon in collaboration with other Danish CH bodies (since they were also organising the Final Conference so wished to reach a different but equally important audience of end users).
Only two of the content providers in CARARE were not able to organise national workshops. These were the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) and NAIM in Bulgaria. However, DAI will continue dissemination through several occasions such as the yearly conference of German archaeologists and other meetings organised by the projects IANUS, DARIAH, ARIADNE and EAGLE. NAIM presented the project at their National Archaeological Conference at Burgos in May to around 150 archaeologists.
