Description

ABSTRACT

The knowledge of plant growth pattern, leaf morphology, reproductive attributes and yield contributing character is important for improvement and also enhance productivity. A study was conducted on twenty five local chironji genotypes from Dhadgoan tehsil (Satpuda Hill) in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra during the January- May, 2020. There were variability in growth habit ie tree form and foliage. Variation in bark colour and leaf characters ie leaflet shape, leaf margin, leaf base and leaf apex was also observed. The time of flowering time, time of fruit set and time of ripening ranged between 2nd week of February to 4th week of February, 3rd week of February to 4th week of February and 4th week of February to 2nd week of May respectively. The fruit weight, stone weight, kernel weight, kernel recovery, TSS and acidity varied between 1.15 to 1.38 g, 0.61 to 0.71 g, 0.08 to 0.12 g, 12.90 to 18.18 %, 18.15 to 23.15 0Brix and 1.06 to 1.32 % respectively. Based on the horticultural studied the genotypes viz., DCP-5, DCP-15, DCP-17 and DCP-22 were found to be promising among the local chironji genotypes from Dhadgoan tehsil in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra.
