Tetraodontidae

Description

TETRAODONTIDAE

Arothron hispidus (Linnaeus, 1758) , old citations of the species near Sicily (no descriptions were given and no specimens have been preserved) are to be considered doubtful, including the record given by Torchio (1961) based on a dry and badly preserved specimen now stored in the Museum of Milan (Cat. no. 5498, Pozzallo, Sicily, November, 1960) which is impossible to identify (Tortonese, 1979b).
