Description
Scolytus eichhoffi Reitter, 1894
Distribution in Iran. Golestan (Eggers 1941 as Scolytus iranicus Eggers, 1942, a synonym of S. eichhoffi), Guilan and other northern provinces (Modarres Awal 1997), Iran (no locality cited) (Michalski 1973, Knížek 2011).
General distribution. Azerbaijan, Bulgaria.
Biology. This species, like S. ecksteini, breeds in Ulmus and Zelkova (Ulmaceae) (Stark 1952; Aksent’ev 1993). Recorded in Iran from Ulmus sp. (Ulmaceae) (Modarres Awal 1997). Aksent’ev (1993) briefly describes the gallery system and larva.
Comments. Ablaxia anaxenor (Walker, 1845) (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) is a parasitoid of S. eichhoffi in Iran (Ghahari et al. 2010b).
