A novel semicarbazone, vanillin-N4-phenylsemicarbazone (NVAN) has been synthesized and characterized with the help of microanalytical, spectroscopic and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Amido form of NVAN crystallizes in triclinic space group P1 . The intermolecular hydrogen bonding and the л··л interactions resulting in a 2D network structure which stabilizes the molecule.
