Description

The Near-InfraRed Planet Searcher (NIRPS) will soon join HARPS on the 3.6m. Combing visible and near-infrared spectroscopy and radial velocity will provide new diagnostics as well as new key parameters for a deeper and further characterization of both exoplanets and their host stars.  Extending the spectral range of HARPS to the near infrared with NIRPS will allow a better disentangling of stellar activity, a better spectroscopic characterization of the host star, a better identification of any possible diluted and blended stellar companions, as well as a better characterization of exoplanet atmosphere. We will present the status of NIRPS instrument and its expected capability to characterize exoplanetary systems as a whole.
