Tenebrionidae

Description

A key to pupae of selected Tenebrionidae

(including Bolitophagus corticola SAY) was constructed by Daggy (1946). This key can be useful with some minor reinterpretation, i.e. the introduction of characters of the B. reticulatus pupa:

Original text:

Prothorax without tubercles; lateral plates with several teeth (plate I, fig. 1; plate III, fig. 6) (figures in original paper)...................................................................................... Bolitophagus corticola SAY

Reinterpretation:

Prothorax without tubercles............................................................. .. Bolitophagus genus

Lateral plates trapezium-shaped with several teeth of almost equal size..................... Bolitophagus corticola SAY

Lateral conical plates, almost divided with strongly developed apical, lateral and posterior spines, distinctly larger than other teeth.......................................................................... Bolitophagus reticulatus (L.)
