Phenacoccus perillustris Borchsenius

DIAGNOSIS. Body of female broadly oval. Antennae normally 9 segmented. Legs well developed; claw with a denticle. Cerarii numbering 17 or 18 pairs. Anal lobe cerarii with 2 enlarged lanceolate setae, plus 1 small seta and 12–15 trilocular pores. Anterior cerarii each with 2 lanceolate setae and 3 or 4 trilocular pores, except ocular pair with 3 setae. Ostioles well developed. Circulus present, produced laterally. Multilocular disc pores present on venter only; across posterior edges of abdominal segments III–VII, anterior edges of segment VII, and posterior to vulva. Quinquelocular pores numerous, present medially on thorax and anterior edges of abdominal segments I–V on venter only. Trilocular pores and discoidal pores evenly dispersed. Dorsal oral collar ducts of 1 size, in a single row across thorax and abdominal segments; also on venter, of 2 sizes: large type as on dorsum, scattered on thorax and anterior margins of abdominal segments, and a small type present medially on posterior abdominal segments.

DISTRIBUTION. Palaearctic: China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. In Iran, P. perillustris occurs in Esfahan and Kerman. It is known from 4 plant families worldwide (Ben-Dov et al., 2012).

MATERIAL EXAMINED. Esfahan: Natanz, Bidhand, 2 adults Ƥ, on Berberis vulgaris (Berberidaceae), 18.v.2009, Alt 2349 m.

COMMENTS. The plant family Sapindaceae is a new record for P. perillustris.
