Description

Euthynnus affinis (Cantor 1849) —Kawakawa

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and by Barry C. Russell during 7–28 June 2014; a specimen observed at Nemto Island, New Hanover, 4–15 m depth, St. T 23, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa, Mozambique Channel, Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Panama, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands and Hawaiian Islands, south to Western Australia, New South Wales (Australia), New Caledonia and Tonga. Epipelagic, 0–200 m depth. Marine.
