Description
Scarus rubroviolaceus Bleeker 1847 —Ember parrotfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and by Barry C. Russell during 7–28 June 2014; a specimen observed at Nemto Island, New Hanover, 1–50 m depth, St. T 23, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Panama, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and Lord Howe Island. Solitary or in pairs, in seaward coral reefs, 1–36 m depth. Marine.
