Description

Pseudocoris heteroptera (Bleeker 1857) —Torpedo wrasse

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 2 June 2013, first dive, during ACIAR Aquarium Survey at Kavieng.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Chagos Archipelago and Christmas Island (eastern Indian Ocean) east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Found in groups on sand, coral rubble and coral areas with periodic strong currents, 15–24 m depth. Marine.
