Ostorhinchus properuptus
Description
Ostorhinchus properuptus (Whitley 1964) —Coral cardinalfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen in a video of a specimen taken in northern Kavieng District, at 6–22 m depth, St. KR155, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Australia and Papua New Guinea east to Fiji; southern Japan. Found on sheltered, silty rocky and coral reefs, 1–14 m depth. Marine.
