Ablabys macracanthus
Description
Ablabys macracanthus (Bleeker 1852) —Spiny waspfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on two specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 2 m depth by Dean Tully, 19 Sept. 2015.
Distribution and habitat. Maldives and Andaman Islands east to Philippines, south to New Guinea. Found in areas with sand, rubble and weed adjacent to coral reefs, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
