Description
Setarches longimanus (Alcock 1894) —Red deepwater scorpionfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11076 (1 specimen, St. CP 4419-18, northeast of New Hanover), NTUM 12398 (1 specimen, 67.0 mm SL, St. CP 4446-8, north of New Hanover), and NTUM 11355 (1 specimen, St. CP 4498-8, north of New Hanover).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: East Africa east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to eastern Japan, south to northern Australia. Benthic, on the continental slope, 180–1000 m depth. Marine.
