Interferometric imaging of the young Herbig star HD58647

Optical/IR interferometry is one of the best techniques to study the innermost regions of protoplanetary disks. These regions are otherwise spatially unresolved even for state-of-the-art AO-assisted observations. This technique is widely used at radio wavelengths. However, interferometric imaging at shorter wavelengths is more challenging. One of the main reasons is the restricted number of telescopes available. Indeed, attempting image reconstruction with a sparse uv coverage is an ill-posed problem where we need to deal with less data than pixels. In this poster, I will present one of the few reconstructed images of a young stellar object in the K-band using the ESO VLTI instrument GRAVITY. The image allows us to retrieve morphological details of the innermost protoplanetary disk region around the Herbig Ae star HD58647 down to 0.6 au from the source.  Thanks to the high spectral resolution of GRAVITY, the region emitting the HI Br gamma line has also been spatially resolved. This has allowed us to image reconstruct for the first time the line emitting region around this source, helping us to constrain the origin of the HI Br Gamma line around Herbig AeBe stars.
