APOGEE's 16 Near IR spectroscopic observations of Galactic Star Forming Regions

The APOGEE survey (1.5-1.7 um, R~22500) was not designed to study young stars, but along SDSS III-IV, we have shown otherwise. Pilot programs soon became a survey that nowadays extends to 16 star formation and young star cluster regions within 0.1 and 7 kpc. Using the APOGEE Net neural network (Olney+20) and the MassAge code (Hernandez et al in prep) we estimated spectroscopic (Teff, log(g), [Fe/H]) and physical (L/L☉, M/M☉, Age/Myr) properties as well as circumstellar emission data for over 8900 solar and sub-solar type PMS stars. This study represents an ample, uniform, high quality sample that reveals the global properties of young stellar populations in our neighborhood. This project also opens the door for a sample almost two orders of magnitude larger that will be obtained in SDSS V as part of the Milky Way Mapper project. The 16 region survey (Román-Zúñiga et al in prep) will be published soon, containing over 300 figures and diagrams as well as the six parameter catalog.
