Description
Precision medicine is currently an emerging approach for the treatment of childhood cancer. The use of improved molecular diagnostic techniques has facilitated the identification of actionablemolecular targets and hence additional therapeutic opportunities.Next generation sequencing (NGS) has revolutionized our understanding of pediatric cancerand fueled the personalized approach to cancer treatment.Treatment of patients with pediatric cancer is not synonymous with treatment in a mini adult. Pediatric cancers have different genetic constitution and fewer molecular targets as compared to adult tumors. This overviewdiscusses the diagnostic and therapeutic advancements alongwith some of the important clinical implications and the future prospects of precisionmedicine in pediatric oncology
