Investigating SiO Emission in the ALMA-IMF Sample of Massive Protoclusters

  • 1. University of Florida

Description

In this poster, we present initial results from the SiO J=5-4 emission in the ALMA-IMF sample. We note significant SiO emission associated with high-velocity outflows, as expected. We also note significant SiO flux density which is not associated with high-velocity outflows, contrasting with the longstanding assumption that SiO emission is associated primarily with high-velocity shocks (v ≥ 10 km/s, Schilke et al. 1997) and further supporting previous observations of SiO emission associated with low-velocity activity in the literature (e.g. Louvet et al. 2018; Duarte-Cabral et al. 2014). We find no obvious correlation in degree of outflow activity (number of outflows) with protocluster evolutionary state.
