Multiband Spectroscopic and Spectropolarimetric Analysis of NGC 1624-2

Description

Magnetic Massive Stars are rare and physically anomalous members of the overall massive star populations, with large curiosity surrounding the origin and impact of these fields on the stars. In the search of O-type stars with confirmed fields above their surface, NGC 1624-2 has one of the strongest measured magnetic fields within this class. Spectropolarimetry and spectroscopy are the primary methods for probing the star’s magnetic characteristics, by revealing Zeeman features generated by the fields. We present our ongoing spectroscopic and spectropolarimetric study of NGC 1624-2 using observations collected with ESPaDOnS, SPIRou, the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, and the NoMaDS survey.
