Eurygaster maura (Linnaeus, 1758)
Cimex maurus Linnaeus, 1758: 441; Cimex cinereus Goeze, 1778: 276; Tetyra picta Fabricius, 1803: 136.
Distribution in Iran. Ardabil (Ghahari et al. 2010a), East Azarbaijan (Brown & Eralp 1962; Hoberlandt 1997; Modarres Awal 1997b; Khalilzadeh et al. 2007; Gharaat et al. 2009; Hassanzadeh et al. 2009a, b; Khaghaninia et al. 2010a, b, 2011, 2013), Golestan (Safavi 1959; Farahbakhsh 1961; Brown & Eralp 1962; Modarres Awal 1997b), Isfahan (Samin & Asgari 2012), Khorasan (Linnavuori 2008; Modarres Awal 2008), Mazandaran (Modarres Awal 1997b; Sakenin et al. 2008), Semnan (Galini et al. 2012), Tehran (Samin et al. 2010a), West Azarbaijan (Brown & Eralp 1962; Hoberlandt 1997), Iran (no locality cited) (Khanjani 2006; Göllner-Scheiding 2006b).
General distribution. European, the Maghreb extending to Central Asia (Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan) and Near East.
Host plants. On barley (Modarres Awal 1997b), wheat (Modarres Awal 1997b; Khanjani 2006; Hassanzadeh et al. 2009a, b; Khaghaninia et al. 2010a, b, 2011), wild poaceous plants (Modarres Awal 2008), Trifolium pretense (Poaceae), Myrtus communis (Myrtaceae) (Sakenin et al. 2008).
Comment. Numerous varieties with no taxonomic value have been described, e.g. meridionalis, rufopicta by Péneau 1911, nigricans, maculata by Mancini 1931, aequalis, granulosa, pallidus, rutilus, punctata by Wagner 1938, pallens, melanaria, rubida, umbrosa by Halászfy 1959.
