Gonatocerus aureus Girault, 1911: 263; neotype ♀ (USNM), designated by Triapitsyn, 2013: 48. TL: USA, Illinois, Urbana. Gonatocerus (Lymaenon) aureus: Triapitsyn, 2013: 47 (description, Republic of the Congo, South Africa).
Lymaenon aureus: Huber, 2015: 29 (generic transfer, list).
Distribution. Republic of the Congo, South Africa.
