TYPE LOCALITY. — Southern New Caledonia, 22°47’S, 167°12’E, 405 m [SMIB 3: stn DW 29].

MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Known only from the type material.

DISTRIBUTION. — Southern New Caledonia, live in 405 m.

REMARKS. — It is diagnosed, among the species with imbricate sculpture, by its large and expanded last whorl, with rounded teleoconch whorls, and regular adult growth.

TYPE MATERIAL. — Pseudomurex crebrilamellosus: syntype BMNH 1914.1.7.274, figured by Kosuge & Suzuki (1985, pl. 25, fig. 9) and Higo et al. (2001: 67, fig. G2419). — Coralliophila zuluensis: holotype SAM, Kosuge (1986b: pl. 27, fig. 7).

TYPE LOCALITY. — P. crebrilamellosus: Kii Peninsula, central Honshū, Japan. — C. zuluensis: off O’Neill Peak, 164 m [90 fms], Zululand, eastern South Africa.

MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Vanuatu. MUSORSTOM 8: stn DW 1042, 16°53’S, 168°28’E, 200-260 m, 1 dd.

DISTRIBUTION. — Indian Ocean: eastern South Africa (Kosuge 1986b, 2008). Pacific Ocean: from Japan southward to South China Sea and the Philippines (Tsuchiya 2000). Vanuatu, an empty shell in 200-260 m. Southeastern range extension in the Pacific.

REMARKS. — This species and the next one have often been reported in the genus Mipus de Gregorio, 1885, here used in a restricted sense.
