Espèce type: G. t-nigrum Sélys, 1854.

Gomphides de taille moyenne (L.: 65 mm), noirs tachés de jaune; plaques basalaires jaune verdâtre, ailes avec un ptérostigma assez grand, noir, surmontant des cellules de largeur normale; appendices anaux supérieurs en forme de tenaille.
