Distribution. Locally distributed in Europe along coast and inland halophytic habitats, eastwards through C Asia to Mongolia; N Africa (Povolný 2002). A male labled “ Russia, Altaisky Kray, 53°20’N 84°10’E, 30 km E Barnaul, Losiha river, 17.VII.2001, K. Nupponen leg.” represents the first record of S. salinella from Siberia.

Remarks. The population in the southern Urals belong to spp. salicorniae (E. Hering, 1889), which is otherwise distributed along coasts of northern Europe and in halophytic inland localities in Central Europe.
