98. Brachys ovatus (Weber, 1801)

Parish records (n = 84): Assumption, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Plaquemines, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Vernon, Webster, and West Feliciana Parishes (FSCA, LSAM, MEM, TAMU, USNM).

Potential larval hosts in Louisiana: Quercus incana W. Bartram and Quercus rubra. Adults reported also on Quercus alba, Quercus falcata, Quercus imbricaria, Quercus laevis Walt., Quercus marilandica, Quercus shumardii, Quercus stellata, and Quercus velutina.

Collection date range: 20 March–14 October, mostly during April (n = 42) and May (n = 17).

Comments: Collected by hand, sweeping, using boll weevil pheromone, flight intercept, Leggett, Malaise traps, and as C. fumipennis prey .
