Genus Zethus Fabricius, 1804
Zethus Fabricius, 1804: xii, 282,. Type species: “ Zethus coeruleo-pennis Fab. ” [= Vespa coeruleopennis Fabricius, 1798], by subsequent designation of Latreille 1810: 328, 438.
DiagnosisMetasoma petiolate, TI in dorsal view with width half or less that of TII, and usually at least twice as long as wide. Propodeum with orifice acutely pointed dorsally, apical margin produced above valvulae, valvula elongate and quadrate. Labial palp four-segmented. Tegula moderately sized, not reaching much beyond anterior edge of scutellum
