Ophichthys macrochir (Bleeker, 1853a): Chen & Weng, 1967:73; Chen, 1969:137; Shen 1984a:118; Chen & Yu, 1986:259.
Remarks. Most specimens examined have 207–218 total vertebrae. However, one specimen with 186 total vertebrae is possibly a different species or has a damaged tail.
