Macrocephenchelys brachialis Fowler, 1934:277, fig. 36 (type locality: Makassar Strait, between Borneo and Sulawesi, Indonesia, 2°56'00"S, 118°47'30"E, 367 fathoms [671 m]).
Voucher specimens: many specimens in ASIZP, NMMB-P and USNM.
Remarks. This is a new record for Taiwan. It is commonly collected from deep waters off northeastern and southwestern Taiwan. It is quite abundant in the bycatch of bottom trawls.
