Geographical distribution: Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Argentina.

Distribution in Brazil: all regions (PA, AM, CE, PB, PE, MT, MG, SP, RJ, RS) (Jaczewski 1928c; Truxal 1953; Kleerekoper 1955; Nieser 1970b; Nieser & Pelli 1994; Nieser & Melo 1997; Ribeiro et al. 1998; Heckman 1998; Melo & Nieser 2004).
