Geographical distribution: Mexico, Cayman Islands, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.
Distribution in Brazil: North and Southeast regions (PA, AM, MG, RJ) (Bacon 1956; Nieser & Melo 1997; Melo & Nieser 2004; Pelli et al. 2006; Souza et al. 2006; Pereira & Melo 2007; Moreira & Ribeiro 2009; University of California 2010).
